Laura's Cereal and the Jesus Movie
Last night I dreamt that I had trekked over to Laura, Helen, and Kelly's house (not apartment) and chatted with Laura and Helen for a bit.
I was doing some sort of science lab for an elementary education course which involved making a chocolate recipe. There was chocolate powder inside a chicken wire cylinder, and I needed to add a few more ingredients, which I was borrowing from the girls. I took out some garbanzo beans (which were clearly an important part of this recipe) and then found a can opener. I asked if I could use it, but Laura and Helen said it was Kelly's, so I put it back in the drawer. I didn't want to offend Kelly by using something that was her's without asking, and she wasn't there. So I had to search for another can opener. A number of the girls' drawers were empty, which surprised me, and one was broken. The back end of the drawer had nothing to rest upon, since the wood that supported it was broken. I "fixed" it by setting the back end on some tall cereal boxes in the area underneath.
That's when I noticed how many cereal boxes there were. Cookie crisp, cheerios, grape nuts, life, cinnamon toast crunch... there were many many boxes of cereal, at least 2 of each kind in this small area. But then the small area became a large area, and I was somehow in their basement. Now there were hundreds of boxes of cereal, and I knew they were all Laura's. I began to think that maybe she was a little bit ridiculous to have so much cereal, and was sad that she didn't share it with me. After all, I calculated, even if you finish two boxes of cereal per week, that's only 28 boxes of cereal she could finish before the semester (and her time at calvin) ends! Why wasn't she sharing? I considered offering to buy some of the cereal off of her for a reduced price (say, $1 per box?).
But the Kelly called down to me and asked me to come help with something, but I had taken all my clothes off! They were hanging up next to me which I looked at all the cereals. I couldn't get myself to put them back on. Then I heard Kelly come down the stairs and just wrapped myself in my jacket. Unfortunately, I can't remember what Kelly said, sorry.
But then things were different. I think the transition came about by seeing a television in my dream that had some sort of movie on. In this scene of the movie, two parents were arguing with their son, but they lived in some sort of cathedral. a very very creepy cathedral. They were urging him towards the door of the church, before which hung from wires a sort of corpse-esque likeness of jesus. There were also two huge handprints painted on the door with blood. The father shoved the son into the door, which shattered the likeness of jesus and also sent another one crashing down from near the ceiling.
The parents stalked back in towards the central area of the cathedral. As they walked past a large window (set into an inside wall of the cathedral, somewhat like a surgery room or something), the son snuck under the other side of the window. He had somehow gotten back inside already and was sneaking around. He went to a sort of library room and found a switch to move one of the columns of books out of the way. That's really all I can remember.
